The 12 Days of Online Marketing Pt. 1

I’ll be Online Marketing over some of the festive season. Not because I have to but because I love what I do. I can choose my hours and have fun with friends and loved ones as well as devote time to my business. Work-life balance becomes even more important at this time of year.

I am feeling a bit festive and, in the spirit of the season, I have composed new lyrics to a familiar song to celebrate some of the aspects of online marketing that we’ve been talking about in 2018. I give you ‘The 12 Days of Online Marketing’. Each day is also linked to a blog post from the year so you can dive deeper into any subject you like.

It’s good to put a face to the emails sometimes and have a little fun with your work so, in that spirit, I’ve also recorded me singing my original composition for you and you can see this at the end of part two of this article.

The 12 Days of Online Marketing

When I started up my business online marketing gave to me….

Twelve months of freedom

This is perhaps the most important aspect of our work to bear in mind. The intangible benefits like time to laugh, appreciate the company of loved ones and generally enjoy the world are what we work towards. Online marketing is a flexible job but one that you have to put your heart into to really succeed. When you do, it’s a win-win because you are fulfilled at work and have the space and energy to create a full personal life as well.

Eleven new subscribers

Obviously, we want a few more than eleven subscribers but if you learn to value even little increases to your list, you’ll always get that feel good boost as you watch it grow. Each one is someone saying ‘yes’ to your ideas and what you are offering to the world.

Ten email clicks

Once you have those signups, you have to engage, engage, engage. Be direct, personal and authentic. Find your voice and ensure that it can be heard even when someone is just reading an email. Find out what motivates you and use it to connect with your subscribers because, if you go deep enough, we all have common drives and needs. Once you connect, you’ll get those clicks and you can take people deeper into your business offering.

Nine click funnels

Once you start to get engagement, you can capitalise on that momentum by offering more and more value in return for investment from your subscribers. By the time they have made the journey through your click funnel, you’ll have someone that you can build a productive and mutually beneficial relationship with.

Eight blog posts

I love engaging through my blog. It gives me a chance to talk about the subjects I love in a way that is designed to connect with my subscribers and, hopefully, pass on some of the excellent information that I have received and used over the years. It takes time, energy and passion for the subject. If you have those things, maybe it’s time to start blogging.
